Spindrift wins Best Sport Podcast at the Independent Podcast Awards

The Independent Podcast Awards celebrates podcasts created without corporate ties, with categories that showcase the depth and breadth of independent podcasting, from Arts and Culture to Gaming, History and Horror.

The Spindrift Podcast was named a finalist in the Sports category in the 2023 awards, which already felt like an achievement considering it was up against major independent podcasts in the adventure, football, rugby and golf arenas.

When it was then called out as winner at the awards ceremony at Kings Place in London, it was a delightful shock and a massive vote of confidence for podcast and the work that goes into it.

The judges commented that "Spindrift is stacked with interesting interview-led episodes where off-road cycling serves as a topic for women to talk about wider issues and interests."

“The host, Aoife, comes across as really assured and knowledgeable, and is a really good interviewer. Production is slick, the audio quality is great and all in all sounds really professional. A very well put together show targeting a niche that needs more representation.”

Spindrift sets out to engage listeners with the stories that go beyond the nuts and bolts of cycling and into the experiences, emotions and insights around it, and to have this recognised and valued means so much.
